Day 3 - 25 Oct 2013 - from Cape Town to Pretoria

Day 3 - 1.446 Km - 13 hrs and 39 min.

It's time to come back! After yesterday ride to Lambert's bay I've decided to change the original plan. So instead of going back to Pretoria passing by Springbok and Upington, I've decided to make the long way back through the Karoo. It's less adventurous but I can also do it in 1 day instead of breaking the way back in 2 days riding alone. I didn't received any confirmation from my friends so because I'm on y own I prefer to make the "shorter" way back.
Unfortunately not that much to show due to the rain. I've started in at 3 AM and immediately after the Huguenot tunnel the rain started. Now driving in the dark under a shower it's not the best and after the 1st 100 km I've decided to reduce the risk and stopping by Worcester. If I cannot avoid the rain at least I'll try to have the light.
So I waited 1 hour circa at the gas station. After that I continued under the rain for the next 680 km till Colesborg and there I took the first picture...

My waterproof tested bike..

and the wet perspective left behind..

Unfortunately I didn't put the statistic on my way to Cape, but I did on my way back and the result it's quite impressive. I rode for 16 hrs in total, from 3 AM till 7 PM.

Day 1 - 23 Oct 2013 - Saddle Sore 1000 - Iron Butt - Highveld Augulas

Yes! Last week I've finally did it. I was really concerned but thanks God everything went well. In total in 3 days I've made 3.709 Km!! One of the best ride that I've never did.
Thanks for an excellent organization and complete planning from the Pretoria Chapter, thanks to Wesley an Johan, and all the other guy that attended this event, I've finally been certified as Iron Butt.

From Pretoria, Ventersburg, Bloemfontein, Colesberg, Graff-Reinett, Uniondale, Mossel Bay, Swellendam, Caledon, to the Protea Hotel in Cape Town. 1.670 Km (1037 Mi) Starting from 2.15 AM and Arriving around 19.00 PM (17 Hours of riding). Just for this.

We started with a small group and along the way we were catching each other time to time on the highway or on the Petrol station..roosters included!

My Bike, el Lote, properly organized for the long trip, has always behaved perfectly.

and I was focused on the long way

So I went through the Karoo From Bloemsfontein till Graaff-Reinet alone, leaving the others on the road, and enjoining the landscape..Biker's dream...

In Graaff-Reinet then, I've joined Pieter and Johan and we proceded togheter till Cape.

We stopped in Wellington where some kids were reallyaxcited about the bikes

After the Outeniqua Pass we discovered a really amazing view to the sea..Amazing road as well

and off course we have been stoped several time due to the road works...

Time to fill up and again going back on the road

But we needed to stop time to time to do not miss the beautiful landscape

And finally we arrived to Cape Town
