After finalizing the thank with body filler, and 3 coat of primer, I've re-installed it on the bike just to see how is it looking the final result, or at list to have an idea about it...
What do you think? I personally like it very much...

Ironhead Bobber: Chopping Bad
So here we go again. I've made some cosmetic and functional modification to my project.
Changed the battery for a smaller one and built a battery holder, changed the high riser for the original ones that gives a best bobber look according my point of view. This bike is for sell. anyone interested?

How to dish a tank - 3
Afte making a first try with the old tank I've decided to dish the streched tank of my softail.
I've started first of all removing the prolongation at the end
Then I've sand it in two steps. first grossly...
And then finely with sand paper 180
At this point I wanted to have alook on the bike
After I've drawn the shape to cut on the tank
And after taking a deep breath....I've passed the point of no return and cutted of
Next step I've tacked it with some difficulty..but with no mercy!
I've also had a first look back on the bike..
After that I've finally complete the welding
After the first pass, I've made the air leak test, found some small leaks, welded aigain, tested again till there were no leaks..
After I've finished it with sandblasting and putted back on the bike for the final look..
Now it's time to paint it...

How to dish a tank - 2
So after yesterday tacking I've started completing the job just welding it.
I've didn't make a very simmetric shape and this is a problem, if you want to do it you need to be sure:
1) The shape must be perfectly simmetric so that when you turn it the shape will fits without problem.
2) you need to cut the tank on the non curved portion, if you cut it where it's curved then you will have a problem when you reverse it since the bending will be in the opposit direction..

How to dish a tank - 1
SO I was having this old tank...full of resin, since the guy from who I've bought it for some reasons made it full of resin. Perhaps a leakage? anyway I've decided to test myself doing it dished..
first step I've sand it to raw
Then I've made a template for the shape to cut
and finally I've cut it and tacked ..
I will post some other pictures when I finished welding...
